AK Ramakrishnan is Professor and Chairperson at the Centre for West Asian Studies, School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University. He did his Bachelors in Science from University of Calicut, Masters in Middle Eastern Studies from University of Mysore, M.Phil from the Jawaharlal Nehru University, and PhD on ‘American Perceptions of Iran: A Study in Orientalism’ at Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala. He also has held various academic positions at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi; Bucknell University, Pennsylvania; and Cairo University, Cairo. He has authored various books related to the Middle East and numerous articles on Keralite politics and culture.
