Photo-Essay: JNU Protest Movement

By Azhar Amin

A photo-essay on the protest movement in JNU.

Against the oppression we walked hand in hand

Against the oppression we walked hand in hand

Because it was for the freedom of expression, everyone stood up

Because it was for the freedom of expression, everyone stood up

Comrades in arms

Comrades in arms

Even in the Jails we sent them our love

Even in the Jails we sent them our love

Everyone stood for JNU

Everyone stood for JNU

If oppression is their privilege, dissent is our right!

If oppression is their privilege, dissent is our right!

Raise the voice, for your lips are free to speak

Raise the voice, for your lips are free to speak

Such were the people who provided us the strength to fight on

Such were the people who provided us the strength to fight on

The whole world listened to us that day

The whole world listened to us that day

They didn't realize that it was JNU

They didn’t realize that it was JNU

They tried to supress few voices, they didn't know thousands will speak up for them

They tried to supress few voices, they didn’t know thousands will speak up for them

Under that tricolor we stood united against fascism

Under that tricolor we stood united against fascism

We fight not only against your tyranny but for the beauty of our dreams

We fight not only against your tyranny but for the beauty of our dreams

We fought back with everything but violence

We fought back with everything but violence

We fought back with roses

We fought back with roses

We fought tooth and nail for our comrades

We fought tooth and nail for our comrades

We won't sit back when our home is under attack

We won’t sit back when our home is under attack

When thousands marched for JNU

When thousands marched for JNU
