Documentary Film: Machis ko Sinka

Radha Mohini Prasad’s documentary film, Machis ko Sinka, is a student diploma film shot in Kalimpong in the background of Gorkhaland Movement. It is reflective of the contradictions in political rhetoric and the ordinary lives during the Gorkhaland Movement.

Filmmaker:
Radha Mohini Prasad is young film maker from Kalimpong and is working in Banglore. She grew up in Kalimpong, a remote town in the Himalayas, which in the past century has been the scene of many migrations. She herself is a product of two such migrations: her great grandparents themselves came from Uttar Pradesh and from Okhaldhunga and Ilam in Eastern Nepal. Her place of birth and its circumstances have greatly influenced and shaped her work.
